EinsteinPlus is a one-week intensive workshop for Canadian and international high school teachers that focuses on modern physics including quantum physics, special relativity, and cosmology.EinsteinPlus also provides unique opportunities to learn some of the latest developments in physics from expert researchers at the forefront of their fields, enjoy lab tours and take part in social events with like-minded teachers from around the globe. Sessions include:

  • Innovative teaching strategies suitable for all areas of physics
  • Quantum physics: Wave-particle duality and the electron double-slit experiment
  • GPS and relativity
  • Dark matter as an application of uniform circular motion
  • Measuring Planck's constant using simple electronic circuit.

EinsteinPlus will take place from July 8 - 14, 2012 at Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation is pleased to be hosting its third annual
Techno-Science Summer Institute for Elementary Teachers in Ottawa this July. We would like to invite your members to participate in this learning experience, and would greatly appreciate it if you would share this information.

The Summer Institute for Elementary Teachers seeks to support educators, providing engaging activity ideas to help them foster their students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Participants will leave the program with renewed enthusiasm, as well as information and resources to share with other teachers in their home communities, for the benefit of a wider teaching body.

Summer Science Camp for Students at Canada's Perimeter Institute

The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Atlantic program is holding a Science Retreat on Saturday June 1st 2013 from 10:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. at MSVU.  Girls in grades 7-12 can participate. The event will have hands-on sessions in chemistry, robotics, and we'll have female role models for round table mentoring and more. The fee is $10, including lunch.
